Jeremy Nickell
Jeremy Nickell is currently the Managing Partner and CEO of Power Careers LLC. He founded Power Careers in 2016 after recruiting for one of the most successful electrical power distribution, power transmission, and power generation recruitment desks in the nation. While working for a large recruitment franchise, Jeremy was able to take his vast technical upbringing to become a national expert in medium to high voltage apparatus and service. Through in person recruitment and vetting, actually living the life of the employees he recruits, Jeremy leveraged his technical chops to become one the most respected recruiters in the nation since his 2013 induction into power. Jeremy has an interesting career journey to share, so listen up!
During high school, Jeremy was involved in a serious car accident. After being injured, he realized that helping people was his calling but so was his love for science. He went on to pursue a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Ball State and his licensure as a Registered Nurse. He spent the next 20 years establishing himself as a critically thinking RN and obtaining his CCRN, CEN, and CFRN certifications. After rising to the top of his field in the critical care niche, he eventually ended up running several aero medical bases in the state of Indiana. Here Jeremy found his love for operations and the recruitment process. After all, no good leader escapes the hunt for talent, especially in the aero medical and critical care fields!
Jeremy went on to work with his wife and co-found a healthcare recruitment firm focusing on nurses, physicians, therapists and even pilots. He would spend several more years working in both worlds until he was introduced to the recruitment challenges of the electrical power, data center and grid modernization worlds in 2013. From there, the rest was history! And, if you have not already concluded this, let us point out that Jeremy is older than he looks! He has been at the recruitment helm since 2009 and he has also been licensed a nurse since 1998.
Jeremy is a great leadership example of finding your passion and pulling the trigger. His ability to navigate high and medium voltage apparatus, technically vet even the most accomplished engineer and provide exceptional follow through to clients is well known. It may have something to do with his humble beginnings or just be the way he is wired. Jeremy grew up in house full of boys, the oldest of five brothers. His father was a hardworking GM employee, passionate about the technical trades. He was taught at an early age that a man is only as good as his work ethic and his word. His childhood was filled working on farm equipment, repairing cars and learning the basics of electricity and plumbing so he could help his father maintain rental properties. He was the first in his family to go to college and has been an overachiever ever since.
Jeremy resides in a suburb of Indianapolis with his wife Sarah. Together, they operate Power Careers LLC and have grown the firm to have the largest database of electrical power, renewable fuels, data center, EV, and utility candidates in the nation. Jeremy and Sarah have 2 high schoolers and 1 child in college. In his free time, he works, no kidding, the man is a machine! When asked about his work ethic, Jeremy simply said, “When you love what you do, you do it all the time, it’s all I think about." Jeremy did share that he is an avid Cleveland Browns fan and every now and then you might catch him at a game or playing with his arsenal of huskies. He also shared that being a Cleveland Browns fan makes him an honorary member of the “Dawg Pound.” His wife shared that it would not be uncommon to find Jeremy and his huskies dressed up in Brown's attire on game days.
